The Chromebox is the desktop equivalent of a Chromebook. Think of it as a Chromebook that is using your ActivPanel touchscreen as its screen. It possesses the capability to operate all your current applications, as well as any available Chromebook applications. The Chromebox looks and acts like a Chromebook and allows you the same functionality as a Chromebook.
Here is a short video outlining the whole setup process.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBXUV1aTjJw
To access your Chromebox, you will select the account, then select the “Source” button on your ActivPanel front panel or Remote
Select the input that your Chromebox is connected to, most likely HDMI 2 or HDMI 3.
When you log into your Chromebox for the first time, you will be asked to enter your SSO Credentials, just like any service that uses SSO. The Chromebox will only allow staff logins. Enter your full <username>@uscsd.k12.pa.us email on the virtual keyboard that will pop up, then select return when done.
Enter your SSO password on the virtual keyboard and select return when done.
You will then be prompted for an MFA code to complete the login process. Enter the MFA code on the virtual keyboard, then select return.
The next screen will prompt you to create a six-digit PIN to log into your Chromebox. Much like the pin you created to secure your ActivPanel account, you can create a pin for your Chromebox. Because this is just like a Chromebook or any other computer, you need to keep this account secure. Type your six-digit PIN in, then select “Next”
Re-enter your six-digit PIN for verification.
If your PINs match, you will be notified that the PIN has been added.
You can select “Next” on the following screen because you change these settings in the next steps.
The screen resolution starts out very small, so that is the first thing we will change.
Select the round “Launcher” icon from the lower left corner of the screen, then select “Settings”
From the left menu, select “Device” then “Displays”
In the “Displays” menu, move the “Display Size” slider to your desired resolution. We recommend “Large” or “240%”
You can see the whole process below.
Next, we need to add the On-Screen Keyboard.
Staying in Settings, select “Accessibility” from the left side, then select “Keyboard and text input”
Enable the “On-screen keyboard” by selecting the slider on the right.
You will see the On-screen keyboard button appear in the System Tray
You can see the whole process below.
For security reasons, you must lock your Chromebox anytime you leave your classroom. This will prevent other users from accessing your Chromebox. Please see the knowledge base article below on how to lock your Chromebox.
