Getting Started with WeVideo (For Teachers)

WeVideo is an online video editor that works on all platforms.  It is web-based, therefore there are no apps to install.  The District subscribes to the WeVideo Schools Plan.

How to Log in to WeVideo:

You can access WeVideo from the USCSD Staff Links Page

Students and Teachers must choose “Log in with Office 365” and use your SSO credentials.  IMPORTANT!  If you DO NOT choose "Log in with Office 365", you will not be added to our District license.

Create a Class in WeVideo:

Once logged in, teachers can create a class in WeVideo for students to join.

Navigate to Classes → Add New Class.  Then enter the required details.

Send an Invite Code for Students to Join Your Class:

After you create your class(es) you will send an invite code to your students who have already logged into WeVideo via the Office 365 method described above.

Students will then navigate to Classes → Join Class to enter the class code.

Create an Assignment in WeVideo:

To create an assignment, open your class and choose Create Assignment.  Then enter the details about the assignment such as project type and due date.

Create a Project in WeVideo:

To create a project, choose Next-Gen from the Drop-Down Menu, then Create.

Name your project in the Top Left corner.

You can now create your video by importing previously recorded videos or use your camera to record.

In the video editor you can:

  • Import Video or Record a video.  Note that once imported, the video stays in your WeVideo account to access from any device.

  • Drag your clips to your timeline to edit

  • Trim the length of clips

  • Change the order of clips

  • Add Effects, Text and Transitions

  • Finish and Export your final video to your WeVideo account and share

WeVideo Academy has some great resources for reference under their “Getting Started with WeVideo” section.
