We have updated the operation of the Boyce Stadium Scoreboard/Audio System. Previously, activating the Audio System and Scoreboard required accessing the electrical boxes behind the scoreboard and using the Vertical ON/OFF Lever.
Behind the scoreboard:
However, this process caused technical issues because sometimes the system was already on or was not properly shut down or started properly (sometimes it was just in "sleep mode").
Last year, we installed a new control system for the Boyce Field House Audio System, allowing volume levels and inputs to be controlled by a touch screen, similar to our theaters and LGI rooms. The Boyce Field House system (touch panel) now has controls to turn the power on/off and display the power status (on or off), all accessible from the touch panel in the Boyce Field House. This project mirrors the one we executed at the High School Stadium two years ago.
The main relays and circuit breakers are in the Lighting Control Box/Electrical Box next to the field house (which did not change), but the electrical box behind the scoreboard is no longer the second on/off switch. The Maintenance Department is the only department that accesses the Lighting Control Box/Electrical Box when there are major power issues. No one is authorized to access that box and manipulate circuit breakers or lighting controls unless directed by the Maintenance Department.

We programmed an additional "safety" shut-off at 11:00 every night in case someone left the system on. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please ask me or Michael Binkley.
In light of the damage to the audio system caused by students last year and the consistent disarray resulting from the mess and trash left behind, it is now mandated that students not operate the scoreboard or audio system without adult supervision.
