Walkthrough Observations:
- Only evaluate domains 1, 2, and 3.
- Once the evaluation is completed in PAETEP, please copy and paste feedback into USC Form 2 within the appropriate domain. Make certain to check Satisfactory, Needs Improvement, or Unsatisfactory at the bottom of Form 2.
- Although the information will be accessible electronically via PAETEP, it is still required to print out three copies of the completed Form 2. One copy is provided to the teacher, one is placed in the building file, and one is sent to Central Office.
- No preconference or post conference need to occur for a walkthrough; therefore, you should hit the skip button at these points in the process.
Formal Observations:
- Only evaluate domains 1, 2, and 3.
- Teachers in this phase (non-tenured, traditional cycle, or tenured teachers within their first three years in the District) should receive one formal observation each semester.
- Two options exist within PAETEP for formal observations (i.e., evidence editor and scripting tool). The evaluator has discretion to use either option.
- Once the evaluation is completed in PAETEP, please print out the information and attach it to Form 1A or Form 1B. We will use Form 1A unless 1B is requested by the teacher.
- When completing Form 1A, please complete the individual rating for each component. For the general comments section, please type “see attached.” Lastly, you must give an overall evaluation for the observation at the bottom of Form 1A (i.e., satisfactory, needs improvement, or unsatisfactory). If Form 1B is requested, please type “see attached” in each domain prior to entering the overall evaluation for the observation.
- Although the information will be accessible electronically via PAETEP, it is still required to print out three copies of the completed Form 1A or 1B. One copy is provided to the teacher, one is placed in the building file, and one is sent to Central Office. * Make certain to attach the PAETEP print outs to the USC forms for all three files.
- A preconference and post conference should occur prior to each formal observation. However, you should skip these options in PAETEP. Please share preconference questions with your staff in advance. Staff members are not required to complete anything in advance. That said, they should be prepared to discuss the questions during the preconference.
Anecdotal Notes:
- We should only use this feature to warehouse positive documentation relative to staff members. Teachers will be able to see any documentation located within their anecdotal notes section. Teachers will have the option to attach any documents in here that they would like to use to support their annual evaluations.
