Troubleshooting iPad Charging Issues

If you find that your iPad is not charging or charging very slowly, please follow these troubleshooting steps.

1.  Please make sure that your iPad has the most recent iOS.

Please go to Settings > General > Software Update

Follow the prompts to install the update.

It will disable your iPad for 15 - 20 minutes, so please don't perform the update during class.

Before you do the iOS update, please make sure that you know your Apple ID Username and Apple iD Password. You may be asked for your Apple ID credentials when setting up your iPad after the iOS update.

2.  Please "Force Restart" your iPad by holding down the power and home button until your iPad restarts and you see the Apple icon in the middle of the screen.

3.  Please make sure that you are using the correct charger and cable for your iPad.  You should be using the Apple 12W charger and Apple USB to Lightning cable that was provided when you received your iPad.  A Smart Phone/Cell Phone charger will not be able to charge your iPad.  Your charger and cable should look like the pictures below:

If you are not using the correct charger or cable, it may cause your iPad to charge slowly or not at all.
