Troubleshooting "Google Drive Needs to Be Running" on MacOS

Periodically, you may see that the Google Drive icon in the menu bar (at the top of your screen) is grayed out or while hovering your cursor over it shows you the rainbow wheel. Additionally, you may see that upon opening Google Drive within Finder,  you are greeted with a "Google Drive needs to be running to order to sync these files" message.

The solution to this issue is to simply fully restart your computer. After you sign back in and allow apps to initialize, you should see that the Google Drive icon in the menu bar has returned to normal and you should be able to access your synced files again.

If you have further issues, please submit a ticket.
