All Upper St. Clair students, both active and inactive, must have assessment coding in Focus for proper PIMS reporting.  Mass assignments occur at the beginning of the school year. As new enrollments are received, manual additions must be made to the incoming student's record at the building/department level to ensure compliance.

 

1. Search for the student by using the Find a Student/User section on the Focus home page or by going to Students>Student Info from the menu.  Enter the student's name or ID number, then click Search.

 

 

 

2. Find the PIMS Assessments tab in the student's record by scrolling down through the tabs or by typing Assessments in the filter field.

 

 

 

3. Student coding is dependent on multiple factors, including grade level and scheduled coursework.  The directions that follow are general guidelines for Upper St. Clair School District students and may differ from statewide standards. For students taking PSSA's and/or Keystone tests, it is considered a best practice to populate all test session fields with the homeroom teacher's name in Focus for proper rostering.

 

  a. Students in grades K, 1, 2, 11, and 12 do not take state reportable assessments.  Their coding should be entered as shown below. This can be completed either by clicking on the square to the left of the logging field or by entering each value across the logging field row. Hit Save when finished.

 

 

 

  b. Students in grades 3-8 take PSSA assessments. Some students may also take Keystone testing.

 

 

 

  c. Students in Grade 9 take Keystone Biology tests in the spring. 

 

 

 

 

d. Students in grade 10 take Keystone Literature testing in the spring.

 

 

 

 

4. Students who require EL or special education services may have unique coding. Those students will have their assessment coding entered by the Student Support Services department. There can be other exceptions, which may require communication with guidance departments, Student Support Services, and/or the PIMS administrator. 

 

5. Assessment data can be updated at any point throughout the school year as schedules change, or as we approach PIMS internal snapshot dates.
